Dr. Jennifer Sneed is a Research Biologist for the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History based at the Smithsonian Marine Station in Fort Pierce, FL. Her research is focused on understanding the chemically-mediated roles that microbes play in the ecology of benthic marine organisms and how these interactions are impacted by climate change and other environmental stressors. She has been working in the field of coral reef ecology and coral larval biology for over 10 years, specializing in early life history stages. She is contributing her expertise in chemical mediation of coral settlement and marine microbiology to the X-REEFs goals of enhancing coral recruitment and increasing thermotolerance using probiotics.
